Our committees are where the real work happens, and where you can help shape the future of financial planning in New Jersey.
Our Committees
This committee is dedicated to supporting and promoting women in the financial planning profession by offering networking, mentorship, and educational opportunities for women in finance to connect and grow.
We build and nurture mutually beneficial relationships between FPA of New Jersey and our partners. Our objective is to encourage partners to engage with the FPA community, maximize their partnership benefits, and maintain their commitment.
We communicate the value of FPA of New Jersey and financial planning to the public, media, and broader financial planning community. Our work helps more people understand what we do, and why it matters.
We’re dedicated to providing financial education and tax preparation help to New Jerseyans who would otherwise struggle to obtain it. Whether you're a seasoned volunteer or a total beginner looking to deepen your expertise, this is a great place to give back.
We welcome new and aspiring financial planners of all ages. Whether you're a student, recent graduate, career changer, or just starting at a firm, NexGen is your place to connect with peers and grow together.
Our goal is to help members realize and experience the value of their FPA membership. We work to understand what members need and respond by providing extraordinary benefits, activities, and connections.
We track legislative and regulatory issues that affect financial planners every day. Through our advocacy efforts, we build relationships with legislators, discuss best practices, and support initiatives like FPA's title protection campaign to establish legal recognition for the profession.
We’re dedicated to bringing a diverse community into our membership and creating a welcoming culture for all. We work to increase opportunities and access across the broadest spectrum so everyone can join, collaborate, and thrive in financial planning.
We’re responsible for creating a robust program of educational content for our members. We organize ~10 programs per year, including webinars, seminars, and educational breakfasts. We also coordinate the FPANJ Mastermind groups where financial planners discuss topics and learn from each other.
We build FPANJ’s spring and fall conferences from the ground up. These conferences help financial planners achieve professional growth and personal fulfillment while serving the financial planning community as a whole.
My initial membership was to make sure I was aware of what was going on in the industry. But after years of membership, Masterminds groups, forum discussions, and lots of events, the FPA actually led to connection and camaraderie with other advisors. The camaraderie of financial planning advisors really is tough to put a price on when we’re naturally independent or alone. —Kenneth Ashka
Initially joined the FPA for its educational resources, but over time—especially after joining the Board—I’ve found that the relationships I’ve built with other advisors have been equally valuable. Our webinars and symposiums have broadened my knowledge on a wide range of topics and helped me stay current on new legislation. I also continually learn from my colleagues, gaining insight into best practices and new approaches to serving clients. —Dawn Brown
It's grown my network, widened my perspective, and amplified my ability to give back to other planners, the FPA and my community. —Dennis Huergo
