The FPANJ NexGen Special Interest Group met on Thursday, Jan. 18 for a Charitable Happy Hour, combining the casual and fun atmosphere of Famished Frog with a serious focus of helping hungry families. Interfaith Food Pantry was the benefactor, receiving $240 in donations along with canned goods that the attendees brought.

“I’d definitely call the event a success,” said Jerry Korey, one of the NexGen planners for the event. “People love to attend a happy hour, but for the purposes of networking and supporting Interfaith Food Pantry I think we did a good job.”

“Your generation tends to be charitable in nature,” said Sandra Benedict with Interfaith. “Bruce Seidmon and I are so grateful that the Pantry was the fortunate recipient of your generosity last night. The $240 we received will be put to good use helping people who are struggling to feed their families right here in our community.”

Interfaith Food Pantry serves to improve the health and well being of Morris County residents by providing access to food, nutrition education and related resources, while also educating the public about hunger issues in the area.

NexGen is one of FPANJ’s vibrant groups that serves to bring together planners who are fairly new to Financial Planning to grow their networks, their knowledge base and their business. If you’re interested in becoming involved, please contact co-chairs Jeanette Lucas at or Jerry Korey at
