Why FPANJ is on Facebook and Why it Matters to You

By now, most people are taking the potential of social media seriously. One-quarter of the planet is on social media. Seriously… 25 percent.

Why FPANJ has launched a Facebook page that is designed to face our public therefore is to present our organization and our profession as the best resource for financial advice. Every post is created or shared to inform, educate and sometimes entertain our target audience.

This is important, considering a recent Wall Street Journal article cited that most Americans are afraid to meet with an advisor. Add that to the fact that millennials don’t even think they have enough money to need an advisor, and it’s apparent we have work to do.

How does our Facebook page add value to you?

  • We would LOVE to share YOUR events – are you holding a session at a local library or at your office providing financial information to the public? Tell us about it, and share your links so we can include them on the page.
  • Your community stories: what resources/organizations have you see in your community that assist in the goals of financial literacy? If you are involved with them particularly please let us know! (and TAKE PICTURES!!)
  • If you like statistics: 78 percent of social media users have had at least some college; the same percentage makes $75,000+ per year. So if this sounds like your target market, make sure these people hear about what you are up to.
  • 71 percent of consumers make decisions based on social media referrals and 40% of social media users have purchased an item after sharing it on their social networks; that’s a conversion rate that is enviable for any marketing

Doing your part: Even if you are not on Facebook, and still have no desire to join the 1.5 billion users on the site, understand the importance of telling clients, and people you’d like to become clients, to “Like” our page. After all, this is built for them, and we’re hoping in turn to build on our following.
