The evening of June 13, 2017 is devoted to the Retirement Plan and Planning topic. The first half of the evening will concentrate on accumulation techniques, presented by Elise Feldman and will review and update current provisions of qualified retirement plans and how to match plan designs to clients’ goals. The second half of the evening will focus on Distribution techniques from Qualified Retirement Plans. This topic will be presented by a panel of three experts, and moderated by Elise Feldman:

  • Karen Henderson, CPA is a Senior Manager at WithumSmith+Brown PC. Her accounting practice include tax compliance & consulting, executive compensation and benefits, and employee benefits.
  • Jeff Susskind, CLU is member of Acorn Financial Services. His area of expertise is in providing comprehensive investment and insurance solutions for businesses and individuals with focus on investment management and retirement income planning.

The panel discussion will cover distribution options and how to appropriately recommend them, tax ramifications, and consequence on family planning.

The workshop will review and update current provisions of qualified retirement plans and how to match plan designs to clients’ goals. Small and mid-sized businesses compete with large companies for talented staff. In order to attract such staff, current employee compensation schemes must be supplemented by financial security at retirement. The workshop will review plan rules and regulations as well as techniques for designing, implementing and annually administering qualified plans. Specific topics will include the role of retirement plans for small and mid-sized businesses, advantages of qualified plans, types of plans, plan features, document components, notices such as Safe Harbor, design components, distribution of assets and matching goals and products. The workshop will use case studies and panel discussions to foster audience participation and interaction.
