William Paterson University and Rutgers University are the two NJ Student chapter of the FPA. The chapter is open to all majors who have expressed interest in a career in Financial Planning and works jointly with FPANJ. We discuss current and relevant financial planning strategies as well as have distinguished members from the Financial Planning community present to us their real life experiences as financial planners.

Guest speakers present to the students about what it means to be a Financial Planner and provide the best service possible for their clients, mock presentations to help give them real world experience and a better understanding of what the profession is truly about.

The college programs are headed by:

  • John Duncan Williams is Head of William Patterson University
  • Tom Duffy works with the Student Chapter at Rutgers
  • Valerie Barnes Head of Fairleigh Dickinson University

Farleigh Dickinson University is an Adults in Transition Program. William Patterson University and Rutgers University are geared more towards tradition education for undergraduate students. Farleigh Dickinson University is geared more towards adults who are in transition from another field into financial planning or is an existing financial professional who wants to increase their credibility by attaining the Certified Financial Planner ™ designation.
